When Carly Robyn Green first came to this radio host's attention, she piqued interest immediately. Something about her face that is so much like the SUN :) Then, to HEAR her! She's like a throwback to the full-throated singers with real personality that populated stages and TV in the 60's. Vocalists that needed no bells and whistles. Just give them a microphone and a room - and you can hear them in the next town. LOL!
This Carly - she's a BEAUT as we used to say in Philly - and that is where our guest calls home! And she has played some truly significant landmarks in The City of Brotherly Love. And WAY beyond. It was at a special Grammy Awards show, singing back-up for Cee Lo Green (no relation!), that she received some of her best advice.
Bear with the messenger of this story now....we have to give you some background. Carly had been writing the du jour songs of the day: electro pop numbers that got a LOT of play. Seriously, views on You Tube beyond the thousands. Networks and cable, film and overseas markets. Her name is respected in the business, for sure. But she confessed to Cee Lo that she loved the music that stood the test of time. What he told her: Focus on THOSE songs that fuel you!
Inspired, Carly sought out some of the best writers she could fnd. Who wrote hit songs for Whitney Houston and Celine Dion and Bette Midler. She signed a publishing deal with BMG. And this is only a PIECE of her ongoing musical story. Her single, "What Love Is All About" is some kind of glorious power. It's Taylor Dayne and Ethel Merman and Bette belting out joy and passion in a new, unique honey-colored Hybrid. Gorgeous authenticity!
Meet Carly Robyn Green at two p.m. Eastern on 4/28 - she'll make you FEEL Spring all over again :)
